  • Large, wide or disproportionate nostrils can be corrected.

How is rhinoplasty surgery performed?

Rhinoplasty is performed using the closed technique, where the incisions are hidden inside the nose, or the open technique, where an incision is made along the narrow strip of tissue (columella) that separates the nostrils. Thanks to these incisions, the skin covering the nasal bones and cartilages is gently lifted, and the nose structure is reshaped.

An overly large nose can be made smaller by removing bone or cartilage. Sometimes nose surgery may require the addition of cartilage grafts. In this case, cartilage from the septum, which is the part in the middle of the nose, is commonly used.

If there is a curvature in the cartilage that separates the nostrils (septum), the cartilage is corrected, and the protrusions in the nose are removed to facilitate breathing.
